Many have recently asked me why exactly I would want to leave a perfectly good country like the U.S. to go to a foreign land to study. Well the answer is that I just want more experience out of my life than the ordinary and mundane everyday tasks...I guess I just wanted to experience something totally new and exciting, sort of a quest for independence and growth one could call it. Keep in mind, however, that the first and foremost reason that I chose to spend 6 weeks studying in Chennai, India with the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine is to gain new and different experiences in the world of cattle and poultry health.
While I'm in Chennai, I will be working on a Bovine Tuberculosis project, an economics of Mastitis project, and a project involving the use of an oral pellet to reduce the incidence of Newcastle disease in poultry. I will be collecting a lot of samples, doing a lot of lab work, and along the way meeting a ton of cool new people and animals. I can't wait to start the projects.
Also, while I'm here we will be doing our fair share of shopping, sightseeing, and even taking a trip to 3 different elephant sanctuaries! The fact that I get to have this once in a lifetime experience is the exact reason why I chose to leave the U.S. to study, and I've never been happier that I did!
